The Florida Baptist Convention, Florida Baptist Children’s Home and One More Child collaborated with and mobilized 40+ churches, both stateside and local, to facilitate the Dominica, Windward Islands Feeding of 5,000 Crusade this past June. Thousands of hurting and hungry adults and children were fed and more than five-hundred accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior!

Giving back to those who give as a profession, the Florida Baptist Convention, Central Region held the Pastors and Wives Gala Celebration at the elegant Rosen Shingle Creek Hotel in Orlando, this past May. Attendees were honored for their ministry and enjoyed a beautiful evening filled with praise, worship, music and a delicious meal.

The second annual Hispanic Youth Retreat was hosted by several Hispanic Churches on May 4, 2019 in Orlando. The retreat was held at Casa Portadores de Gloria (CPG), pastored by Esdras Toirac. The Hispanic Churches united in their mission to shape, sharpen and challenge their young people to be more like Christ and less like the culture around them.

A Committee on Nominations composed of pastors, laypersons, and church staff has been appointed by the officers of the Florida Baptist State Convention. Phillip Herrington, pastor of First Baptist Church, Live Oak, was named to chair the 18-member committee.

“I love the VBS Trainings. It’s amazing to connect with other churches throughout the state. We had the chance to encourage and pray for each other as we get ready for the summer. Some of the best ideas I’ve gotten for ministry have come from networking with other churches and hearing their stories,” shared Amanda Peavy, Children’s Ministry Director at Church at the Cross.

The Central Florida Regional Evangelism Conference was held on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Calvary Baptist Church of Winter Haven. The event theme ‘Who’s Your One?’, sparked raw and uplifting emotions during the four-hour event of sharing, worship and praise. “It doesn’t get any better than that!”, stated Dr. Jeffery Singletary.
