Hunt exhorts pastors to evangelistic fervor
With Southern Baptist baptisms at a seven-decade low, Johnny Hunt told pastors attending the 2019 Florida Baptist Pastors’ Conference at First Baptist Church, Orlando, Fla., Monday, Nov. 11, “We (Southern Baptists) have lost our way,” in keeping the “main thing (sharing the gospel)” the main thing, and he then exhorted attendees in their evangelistic fervor.
State Board elects Miami BCM director, new officers for 2019-2020
The State Board of Missions elected a new Miami-area Baptist Campus Minister, tapped a new slate of officers and welcomed 58 new congregations and during the Nov. 11 meeting held in conjunction with the Florida Baptist State Convention at First Baptist Church in Orlando.
Record number gathers for Hispanic Baptist Celebration
A record number of close to 1,000 Hispanic Baptists from throughout the Sunshine State gathered Sunday, Nov. 11, for the Hispanic Baptist Celebration, held in conjunction with the Florida Baptist State Convention’s (FBSC) 2019 annual meeting at First Baptist Church, Orlando.

Equating the demise of Sears retailers to the church’s own resistance to change, Willy Rice said, “It is one thing to miss a business opportunity and fall behind, but it is far more tragic to miss the work of God because we are unwilling to change, to adapt, to respond to the fresh movement of God.”
