{"id":40379,"date":"2022-10-20T09:31:42","date_gmt":"2022-10-20T13:31:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/floridabaptist.wpengine.com\/?p=40379"},"modified":"2025-11-04T16:13:59","modified_gmt":"2025-11-04T21:13:59","slug":"hurricane-ian-recovery-efforts-continue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flbaptist.org\/hurricane-ian-recovery-efforts-continue\/","title":{"rendered":"Hurricane Ian recovery efforts continue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MYERS\u2013Hurricane Ian passed through Florida three weeks ago, but the lengthy recovery task will continue in the days, weeks and months ahead.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With more than 1.5 million Florida residents impacted by the hurricane\u2019s catastrophic destruction, <a href=\"https:\/\/flbaptist.org\/disasterrelief\/\">Florida Baptist Disaster Relief<\/a> teams made <a href=\"http:\/\/www.crossroadsbaptist.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Crossroads Baptist Church<\/a> in hard-hit Fort Myers one of nine staging sites throughout Florida\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/flbaptist.org\/southwest\/\">southwest<\/a> region.\u00a0<span style=\"text-transform: initial;\">There, DR teams from other Baptist state conventions partnered with FLDR in the massive recovery response.<\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cIn the days ahead there\u2019s still lots of work to do. We still have families who are dealing with the aftermath of Ian,\u201d said David Gold, lead pastor of Crossroads Baptist Church, in a social media <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/crchurchftmyers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">video<\/a>. He added that many church families are among those who have been \u201cimpacted significantly\u201d by the hurricane.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Disaster relief volunteers in Fort Myers are primarily focused on removing debris, cleaning up homes, providing hot meals and free showers, and distributing nonperishable food items and water.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-transform: initial;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/flbaptist.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/310259679_5768032969925234_2276004389481027869_n.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-40380 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/flbaptist.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/310259679_5768032969925234_2276004389481027869_n-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Disaster Relief\" width=\"414\" \/><\/a>In partnership with <\/span><a style=\"text-transform: initial;\" href=\"https:\/\/onemorechild.org\/?gclid=CjwKCAjw-rOaBhA9EiwAUkLV4ngnNHwo-vjq2MfG5RYPaTVWoDFgkNz-B98-MiRgaYMmfaT4QUCRfBoCqcoQAvD_BwE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">One More Child<\/a><span style=\"text-transform: initial;\"> and <\/span><a style=\"text-transform: initial;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sendrelief.org\/?utm_source=google&amp;utm_medium=cpc&amp;utm_campaign=MW_SRE_233-54182_paid-search-fy22_20220822_SEARCH2208&amp;utm_content=ministry-content_nil_nil_nil&amp;source=SEARCH2208&amp;mwm_id=621278883084&amp;mwsc=SRE-233-SEARCH2208&amp;mwm_id=621278883084&amp;gclid=CjwKCAjw-rOaBhA9EiwAUkLV4kTUKVHEfpgXenzEOBSYpQ6vCeLrYlxVAi3CYfpKg7eDQAHDRP_jqRoCUwQQAvD_BwE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Send Relief<\/a><span style=\"text-transform: initial;\">, volunteers at Crossroads Baptist Church have also distributed formula, diapers and other essential items throughout their community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-transform: initial;\">As volunteers meet the practical and tangible needs of those in the storm\u2019s destructive path, they also find opportunities to share the <\/span><a style=\"text-transform: initial;\" href=\"https:\/\/flbaptist.org\/jesus\/\">gospel<\/a><span style=\"text-transform: initial;\"> message.<\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cWhat an incredible opportunity we have in these next few weeks to be a faithful gospel witness in the things that we do but also in the message we bring along with that hope and along with that help,\u201d said Pastor Gold.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cThere is a greater need in our community than being cleaned up from Ian.
