{"id":51079,"date":"2025-10-02T11:33:11","date_gmt":"2025-10-02T15:33:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flbaptist.org\/?p=51079"},"modified":"2025-11-04T16:26:20","modified_gmt":"2025-11-04T21:26:20","slug":"florida-baptist-church-planters-retreat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flbaptist.org\/florida-baptist-church-planters-retreat\/","title":{"rendered":"Florida Baptist Church Planters Encouraged, Equipped at Jacksonville Retreat"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"uk-card uk-card-default uk-card-body uk-margin\" style=\"border-left: 3px solid #f97316;\">\n<blockquote class=\"uk-text-large uk-margin-bottom\">\n<p>&#8220;Nobody gets too much encouragement, and we want planters to know they\u2019re not alone in this.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"uk-text-meta\"><strong>James Peoples<\/strong><br \/>director, Send Network Florida<\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\nJACKSONVILLE\u2013Nearly 200 Florida Baptist church planters and their spouses gathered Sept. 29-30 for a retreat focused on encouragement, equipping and relationship-building.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cPlanting new churches is one of our mission imperatives as Florida Baptists,\u201d said Stephen Rummage, executive director-treasurer of the <a href=\"http:\/\/flbaptist.org\/\">Florida Baptist Convention<\/a>. \u201cEvery new church creates a new opportunity for the gospel to reach people who need Jesus. To have them and their wives spend time together, be loved, be encouraged, and also be encouraged by other planters \u2014 it\u2019s just a special time. Then He will do more in a moment than you ever dreamed of.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The following morning, spouses gathered for a brunch with encouragement-focused activities while planters attended multiple sessions led by Rummage on preaching.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cDr. Rummage\u2019s preaching workshop affirmed my conviction of the primacy of preaching as the best and highest thing I can do to serve my church plant. He said, \u2018No matter the size of a church, the pulpit is the same.\u2019 No matter what we may lack, the sermon can be well-crafted and delivered if the planter makes it a priority,\u201d said Trent Griffith, pastor, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newcitylife.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New City Life Church<\/a>, St. Johns.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Across the\u00a0state, Florida Baptists are planting churches, and this event\u00a0emphasized\u00a0the love and family environment that backs each plant in every region.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt\u2019s always great to be in the same room with planters from across the state,\u201d said Andrew Kappenman, co-lead pastor of <a href=\"https:\/\/1002orlando.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">10:02 Church<\/a> in Orlando. \u201cWe were encouraged and challenged to study and teach the Word, and we get to celebrate stories about how the Lord is working in our churches. The time with Dr. Rummage was impactful and brought a ton of great points for how to effectively prepare a sermon. The time with other planters is always powerful as I get to connect with other men who are walking the same path and dealing with many of the highs and lows that I am. The time away from home with my bride is always a highlight! Spending time with her on the road and reconnecting over dinner and worship were fantastic,\u201d said Bobby Brown, pastor of <a href=\"https:\/\/remadechurch.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Remade Church<\/a> in Port St. Lucie.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pastor Vitaliy Morgun, from Ukrainian Baptist Church of Jacksonville, agreed, \u201cIt was a true blessing to gather in fellowship, receive encouragement and be renewed in God\u2019s Word.
