{"id":51416,"date":"2025-10-24T08:00:32","date_gmt":"2025-10-24T12:00:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/flbaptist.org\/?p=51416"},"modified":"2025-11-04T16:26:37","modified_gmt":"2025-11-04T21:26:37","slug":"florida-senders-network-clearwater","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flbaptist.org\/florida-senders-network-clearwater\/","title":{"rendered":"Churches come beside churches to strengthen sending\/leadership pipelines"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CLEARWATER\u2013 More than 30 pastors and church leaders from across Florida gathered at <a href=\"https:\/\/calvary.us\/new-here\/locations\/clearwater\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Calvary Church<\/a> in Clearwater Oct. 9\u201310 for the Florida Senders Network meeting, a two-day event designed to help churches strengthen their sending and leadership pipelines for missions and church planting.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe whole concept is to help churches either start or sharpen their sending and leadership pipelines,\u201d said Myles Dowdy, missions and ministries lead catalyst for the <a href=\"http:\/\/flbaptist.org\/\">Florida Baptist Convention<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s churches coming beside churches, and that\u2019s what makes it so special.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cCarrying out the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus is a kingdom assignment designed for the body of Christ to work together,\u201d Dowdy added. \u201cThe Florida Senders Network meetings are so encouraging to participate in, as we get to witness churches coming beside churches as they encourage and strengthen each other in their kingdom work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hosted by Calvary Church and led by Paul Colton, pastor of mobilization and sending, the meeting offered practical sessions on identifying, equipping and sending leaders from within the local church. The initiative, launched three years ago by Dowdy and Colton, aligns with the Florida Baptist Convention\u2019s goal to discover, develop and deploy Great Commission leaders.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Sharpening the pipeline<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the two-day gathering, churches shared models of effective leadership and mission development.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegrovechurchfl.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Grove Church<\/a> in Titusville, represented by Pastor Barry Russell and Executive Pastor Dustin Sams, discussed their process for discovering and developing leaders. While the Florida Baptist Convention provides logistical support and resources, local churches drive the initiative.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThis isn\u2019t a program of the Convention\u2014it\u2019s a ministry of the local church,\u201d Dowdy explained. \u201cOur large churches like Calvary want to help smaller ones learn what it means to send well. They\u2019re not getting anything out of it; they\u2019re just equipping others.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Looking ahead<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This fall\u2019s meeting marked the third gathering since the network began, and plans are already underway for additional meetings in 2026.
