Proverbs 31:8-9 \u201cSpeak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed. Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Human Trafficking, modern-day slavery, runs rampant across our world.\u00a0 An estimated 40 million people are currently trafficked globally today.\u00a0 Children make up 21% of trafficking victims world-wide; 80% of all victims are women and children.<\/span>\u00a0 Human trafficking generates an estimated $150 billion worldwide, with the United States leading all other\u00a0<\/span>countries\u2019<\/span>\u00a0demand.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Florida<\/span><\/b>\u00a0is 3<\/span><\/b>rd<\/span><\/b>\u00a0in the nation for human trafficking across the United States<\/span><\/b>.\u00a0 A great number of\u00a0<\/span>sex trafficking, domestic servitude, and forced labor<\/span>\u00a0cases have been reported.<\/span>\u202fFlorida\u202fhas a\u202flarge\u202fagricultural economy and a\u202flarge\u202fimmigrant population,\u00a0<\/span>which has made it a prime environment for forced labor, particularly in the tomato<\/span>\u00a0industry.<\/span>\u00a0 Florida is proud to be the number one tourist destination in the\u00a0<\/span>world,<\/span>\u00a0but the great numbers have contributed to the environment of sex and labor trafficking.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Human trafficking victims are many times US citizens, including Florida residents.\u00a0 Immigrants can, also, be human trafficking victims.\u00a0 Many have given their life-time savings<\/span>\u00a0to someone who has promised them citizenship, only to be enslaved.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As your Church ministers to immigrants and internationals<\/span><\/b>, please be aware of this atrocity called human trafficking.\u00a0 Learn how to recognize a human trafficking victim and know the resources in your county that are available to help this person.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
